Driveshaft length?

Last RSD I broke my driveshaft.With the new driveshaft in I only have 3/8"travel before the driveshaft bottoms out in the transmission. Is this enough or should I have it shortend another 1/4"?

3/8 is pretty tight. Personally i like to see 3/4 - 1" of stick-out.

Machine Service recommends 1".

Thanks guys. I guess its coming back out and getting shortend.Do you thinks it safe to drive to the exhaust shop to get tailpipes put on if I drive slow and carefull? I already have the appointment made.

I would say yes, just avoid the big bumps. I actually drove a truck around that had little to no play between the trans and driveshaft for about a year. When i pulled the pan on the tranny it was full of shavings and the front of the driveshaft was chewed up. But that truck went thru alot of abuse.

Brett just went through this i believe. I think you have the wrong yoke for your application. Pay attention to post #7 in this thread.
