i have a pro comp c4 and was wondering what was better..i am now running amsoil in it and it seems to not want go into reverse or go into third as quick..it will go into reverse slowly or not at all..and into third it will slowly engauge into it...the linkage is adjusted properly and everything is in working order...now my question is should i be running type f because its thicker and more capable of producing a better shift or should i stick with amsoil full synthetic...i have heard both ways...i have a coan 8in convertor

Type F is the only fluid PA recommends for that transmission.

Also make sure you have enough fluid in it.

I don't remember how many quarts I put in it but I know the dipstick isn't right.

I used Type F in my tricked out C6 and still use it in a Mopar 727 TF. It works very well due to the addition of friction modifier additives (Over regular Dexron). The next trans fluid change will see some ATF+3, which is also said to have more FM in it.

I wonder if Citgo-Mystik makes Type F?

I believe the pan holds 4 quarts and the converter holds another 4 plus probably a half a quart or so for the lines and cooler. Check that dipstick to see if there is a mark filed in it somewhere. I may have put a mark on it. In regards to your reverse issue, try using the transbrake. If the car just takes off forward with the transbrake engaged, you probably have a low fluid level or a failing reverse pack. I remember you saying something about running it hot, make sure if the temp gets above 200 degrees you shut the car down and figure out the problem or it will do damage to the trans. Make sure the cooler is mounted in front of the radiator and make sure the plastic air dam is still attached to the bottom of the radiator support. That plastic piece is what directs the air up to the radiator and trans cooler. Heat is the number one killer of automatic transmissions.

oh yeah that heat problem was taken care of A LONG time ago..it never gets above 150 now..and i will fill it to the scribed line on the dipstick and see what happens
