i am finally getting around to starting the camaro project, question is what should i do with the stock rear end of my car, should i swap it out for something else or how much will these rear ends hold...

it all depends on who you talk to. Some say that the stock 7.5 rear end will hold up to around 300 rwhp when the car is hooking up. Some guys have a stock 7.5 in 9 second cars that last a long time. Then again...some guys have a 7.5 that breaks in the 2.8 s10's. All in all...its what you want to prepare for. If you plan on getting slicks....you might want to upgrade. If your just cruising on street tires...doesnt really matter cause you're mostly just smoking the tires off anyways.

In an 87 you should have the Borg Warner (aussie) 9 bolt. If so its much stronger than the 10 bolts. It uses a bolted in setup instead of C clips. For about $200 you can get a TA Performance cover/girdle that will make it even stronger.

Several late 80's Camaros received the 9 bolt. I believe it was most common in the 350 cars.
