I just finished up a new clutch install among other things. When I let the pedal all the way out, I get a knocking noise from the clutch/bellhousing area. I've done a buch of clutches over the years and have never encountered such a noise before. Sounds like a rod knock almost.
If I put any pressure on the pedal at all, the noise stops. So, right now I adjusted the clutch to put preload on the cable, so I don't get the noise now. But, I have never had to do this before. This causes the clutch to engage at the top of the pedal travel, I usually like to have it engaging some where in the middle.
What are some things that would cause such a noise?
