I just finished up a new clutch install among other things. When I let the pedal all the way out, I get a knocking noise from the clutch/bellhousing area. I've done a buch of clutches over the years and have never encountered such a noise before. Sounds like a rod knock almost.

If I put any pressure on the pedal at all, the noise stops. So, right now I adjusted the clutch to put preload on the cable, so I don't get the noise now. But, I have never had to do this before. This causes the clutch to engage at the top of the pedal travel, I usually like to have it engaging some where in the middle.

What are some things that would cause such a noise?

Must be something in the air with mustang clutches. Mine is making a noise too, but mine is more of a whine then a knocking.

Mine was just that I wasn't used to having a firewall adjuster. Have it adjusted where i like to have it engage, works great now!!!

I'm sure yours isn't anything to worry about either, as long as it works, if it anint broke, don't fix it,LOL.

If only that were true!! But I want to have someone look at it or hear it to make sure. I haven't had the best of luck lately, so I don't want to push it.
