I'm getting an electric water pump for my BBC and want to relocate my alternator down by the crankshaft. So I will only be having a belt that goes right from the crank to the alternator and that is it. I know some people on this site have this set up and I was just wondering if you purchased a kit or came up with something yourself to relocate it. Please attach pics if you have a good setup, I'd be interested in seeing it.

I run a CSI elec water pump and a lower mount alternator set-up.
Moroso SWP 1-groove crank pulley, Mr. Gasket low mount alt bracket with a 160amp CS130 style alternator.
The alt bracket is the cheap chrome plated style. I dont think Mr Gasket makes it anymore, but its exactly the same as the 30.00 Jegs low mt alt bracket. I wouldnt recommend using this bracket.......it flexes and I lose belts at high RPM.
I switched from a 100amp SI style alt to a 160amp CS130 style alt. The CS130 alt charges better at low rpm speeds, keeps the volts up while cruising at low speeds with all electric accessories on.
I plan on purchasing the 140.00 MARCH BBC low mount alt bracket for this year. It is made of thick billet aluminum and looks to be a quality peice that im sure will not flex.
I made the one for my SBC from some old brackets I had. not a very good picture but here it is.

This is what I made up Tom. I made it out of 1/4" stock and put a turn buckle on the backside to stablize it.

i just bought the moroso mid alternator mount from jegs that goes on the drivers side when using an electric water pump. i have to modify it a little cuz its not lining up perfect but i think its going to work fine.

One other thing, the belt stays on at 7500 rpm also.
