Has anyone had a hydro lifter not plung or prime for them when installing new one's? I was just installing my new Melling lifters and 2 of them did not plunge down at all in the oil can before I was trying to add them to my BBC motor, they were just solid as a rock. I have them sitting in oil over night tonight but if I need to take them apart to inspect them does anyone know of a website that has pictures of this procedure. I'm sure it isn't rocket science doing this but it would be nice to see what I need to do before doing it. Thanks.

Some lifters are coming pumped up already. From what I have noticed the ones that have a grove around the lifter towards the bottom usually are. If you are worried about them, compress them in a vice to get the oil out and them pull the retaining wire out. It's pretty much explainatory after that.

I did compress the lifters tonight and they plunged down but did not come back up. I put them under some heat from my propane heater in the garage and they started working like they should. I'm not sure if they froze up in their bore sitting in the garage over the winter or if they have a defect in the machining. Either way I'm going to pick up two more lifters, I don't need any road stops getting me out on the track this summer. Thanks for the reply.
