I heard that this day is also scheduled as a High School night. How is this going to work? Prices of High School nights for spectators are considerably cheaper than RSD events.
From what I've been hearing it sounds like there are going to be a lot of people from Point who plan on racing. I just hope it isn't a mess as the high school kids are going to have to run their bracket program at some point during the night.
Also the Central Wisconsin Road Knights are supposed to be running against each other at this event.

The Road Knights, is that the club here in Wausau?

Yup. It is. I just looked up their website. I should join, I'd be the fastest guy, their title holder goes 12.80 with his Charger. I went to High School with a few of those guys.

They should keep the track open to midnight seeing they're cramming two events in one night.

The last RSD I went to they kept announcing that they would be open until midnight. Then they closed the staging lanes at 11:40 and last car ran at 11:45. Grrrrr. So much for getting in a couple of runs right at the end.
What time do the gates open on Friday? When do they start running cars?

It also shows it as being a test and tune night.

SO pay $25 and run MAYBE 2-3 times, yeah that sounds like a blast,..
It seems everytime I have gone to GLD or WIR, this is what happens, that is why I gave up drag racing. You spend all that money on your car to make is safe and fast, get crap about racing on the street and then get invitations like "COME TO RSD WHERE ITS SAFE" . So you pay $25+ dollars plus time to drive there and then run your car like 2-3 times unless your car is fast and running 10's or faster.
High School nights are fun to watch though!

Do you go to RSD to test and tune or street race? If you go to test and tune then you shouldn't be whinning about only getting 2-3 passes in. If you have races set up you will hot lap all night if you want. Time run lanes get shut down when there are races lined up. I've sat in the time run lanes for long periods of time with my car too when I was trying to get it sorted out. That's the way it goes, RSD is not a test and tune night. I've made a dozen passes already with races lined up. Eric has made dozens of passes with his slow ass 12 second Cobra as well. If you have races lined up you will race. On the flip side of things if the time run lanes run non stop to stop the test and tune sissies from crying then the guys with races lined up start to cry. I guess maybe someone needs to start their own event and make everyone happy or at least let the secret out so RSD can be a better event...

So the race lane is for street style races, but those races have to run off the flag from what I've been told in the past. Since I am at a track and have paid to be at a track I'd like to get a time slip. If there is no time slip involved then one might as well just race on the street. I'd also like to know if my competitor red lighted.
Is there any way to be in the race lane and still race off the light????

the street race lane is only for races that are for money and people being spoted out, going off a flag, etc this will not get you a time slip. By the way your talking time run lanes are the best for you

I think you need to go on a test and tune night Tom. If you want a timeslip and you feel that is one of your civil rights because you paid to go to the track on an RSD night then you are going to the track on the wrong night. Street Car Chaos is the same way.
You don't get a timeslip on the street and you don't know if someone redlights on the street unless its a bad redlight so what's the big deal? If your car is consistent timeslips don't mean jack anyway. I know alot of guys that go run the same number all night long. Make a couple photo copies of your time slip if it makes you feel better.

See..i'm going for two reasons, one to get a time slip on my new setup. And the other reason is to race cars to see where i stand against other types of cars. Its possible to get a slip and race somebody, you just need to use the tree.

Do this:
Get there when the early (racing starts at 5pm). Make a few time runs early. Then when the street racing starts you can race who you want how you want. Time runs will get shut down when there are street races lined up.

Tom, you may still want to get down on the street, but the point of RSD is to get people to race in a safe environment.
It is still meant to be a street race event. Which means, races that are set up as such, are going to go, and they use the flag drop an no timing gear just as it would be on the street. It's the same thing, just a safer environment, and no cops to avoid. What's wrong with paying some money for that? Want more runs, set up more races.

Don't get me wrong. I really like RSD and it's concept. I like the idea of a night for racing not a test and tune. I've been to several RSDs now and every time I entered the staging lane I've had a race lined up with someone. I like to race that's why I attend these events. I tried a couple of flag races and didn't like it at all. Personally I like the arm drop method of starting races better. Plus I want a time slip. Since I'm at a track and the timing equipment is there why not use it.
Since I want to race off the tree I wish that I didn't have to get stuck with the test and tuners or test and turds as Tuff calls them.

Last time i was there i did street races, in the street race lane, but raced off the tree so i would still get a slip. I liked that alot, best of both worlds. Our race deal was racing two DSM's, almost exact same mods, but one automatic and one manual, lets just say the manual one. That race the slip was kind of forgotten, i was happy i beat him instead.

Tell Brian ahead of time what race you have lined up and get in the street race lane. He will let you run off the tree. The reason he sometimes shuts the tree down for street racing is because the idiot test and tuners will fill the street race lane and slow everything down. That ruins it for the guys that are actually there to race people. If you have a legit race set up he will let you run off the tree.

All & all I think it went ok last night. It wasn't great that we (rsd guys) pretty much had to wait until the HS & Juniors were done, but they left the track open until midnight, so we still could make quite a few passes. I got there @ 7pm and made 4 runs. There were some ****y HS kids there that I met in lanes, and then proceeded to show them my tailights, so that was fun. I also ran a new best and drove the car home. Some were not as lucky. I would not like to see HS and Rsd together all the time, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.

I didn't like it as a spectator either. It took forever to see some good races. I know that 67mike didn't get his first pass till almost 10:00. I'm glad i didn't bring my car this time. I guess where just lucky they added this rsd in. It sucks for the ppl that came for the rsd, i didn't know untill thur that the h.s. stuff was going on also and i took a day of from work for it. Oh well did get to see the point guys running and it looked like they all ran good and made it out without any problems.

67 Mike didn't get to race until 10pm because he got there late and was putsing around in the pits. Time to buy a torque wrench Mike. :nono: I though the night went pretty well considering it was also a high school night, but it would definitely be better as just a RSD.
The hat races were fun to watch. Mattsubishi got the lucky draw and ended up racing 1fastdeuce. Mattsubishi (DSM) got into the 10's running a 10.86 at 129 mph. He was happy as hell and ended up saying it was the best 10 bucks he ever spent.
