I am getting a ratchet shifter for my birthday, and was looking at 2 possibilities. The Hurst Promatic 2 and the Hurst V-Matic 2 shifters, any one heard any good/bad about either one? Also the Promatic is cable operated, and the Vmatic is cable or trigger operated, what is "trigger operated"?

I have ran both in the past, i really the the pro-matic 2, but the cover is pretty cheesy and breaks easily. The V-matic is also nice. Both run off a cable, the trigger i think your reffering to is the the trigger you pull up with your fingers to move it from park to another gear. You can't go wrong with either one.

I have a B&M megashifter and love it.

I've hated all of the ratchet type shifters I've used. I have a Pro-Stick now and like it alot. Shifts alot firmer.

When I decide to buy a new one it will definately be a Cheetah. They don't get any smoother than them.

I have had ratchet shifters before and after having a Cheetah in my car I would never buy another ratchet shifter. Cheetah SCS, one of the best shifters in my opinion.
