do scater sheilds go in between motor and tranny or on the back of tranny im curios because i need a way to space my tranny away from my motor because my torqe converter is to tight against fly wheel or anybody have a better idea of what i can do an 1/8" or a little more would be perfect
You could try a block protector plate. They come with lakewood bellhousing for stick shift cars, but I'm sure you could buy them seperately. They go in between the motor and tranny. If you do that you might want to get the longer dowel pins also. After you put the plate on the pins do not stick out much.
Are you sure that you have the converter in all the way. Very common mistake not to have the third click???

I put approx. 40 eagle cranks in motors a year and have never seen/heard of a problem like this. I would check the converter again. You shouldn't be able to put your finger between the pump and the converter.

Something is definitely not right. You need to pull it apart and find the problem before you really wreck something. If that converter isn't in tight you will take the thrust bearing out of the engine almost immediately not to mention possible damage to the converter and/or transmission. Rigging up a spacer isn't going to do anything besides move the starter further away from the flexplate and wreck more parts.

i was there, the eagle crank in his engine sits out about 3/16" more than a factory crank, he had another stock small block there that we measured, plus with the thicker sfi flex plate it was worse yet, the torque converter is all the way in the trans you can feel it engage the pump lugs,

That is why you need to order the converter and tell them that you are running a non-stock crank, flexplate or midplate so they make the converter correctly.
Talk to a converter manufaturer and they will probably have the shim you need.

It was the convertor. It was probably built to have a mid plate in it.
As others have said, any quality verter manufacuturer will ask you all those questions. Then the convertor snout/hub what ever you want to call it will be spaced properly.
Hence the reason so many have issues with used convertors or "off the shelf" converters.
