I just put new springs in the front of my car when i put my discs on and the car sits about 3" higher in the front. I was wondering when i take it out and drive it if the front springs will settle alittle. I hate the way it looks. I spent 3hrs researching which springs to get and i guess i was wrong.

The front will settle at least 3" after driving it a bit. When I dropped my Truck 4/6 the front end didn't settle down for about a week. Drive it a while before you start cutting coils.

Nope, your screwed Dan. If anything the front end will get higher after you drive it a bit.

Seriously, Ive benn through this already and changed my springs 10 times to get the "right" ride height. I got 3 sets of new springs in my garage, and in the end I put the stock BB cut springs back in.
Yes the front end will settle a bit. It depends what rate and coil thickness of spring you have. Mijal's and Shane's front ends settled down about 2" after driving awhile.

Run them for awhile, and if you still dont like...cut them. A 1/2 coil brought my front end down 2", but dont use that as a standard....every spring is different.

Thanks thats what i was hoping for. If it settles 2" i'd be happy. If not i'm just going to put the old ones back in. Right now it accually sits level. I liked it with just the slight rack to it. I think it looks funny because the rear tires are just inside the wheel wells and the front tires are about 2 1/2 below the wheel well. I measured the bottom of the body from the front tires to the back and its dead even.

If it doesn't settle I agree with Mike you could just cut them till you get the height you want

As stated before, they will settle. But how much is to be determined. I know that my Eibach Sportlines on my Camaro didn't settle that much. BTW, what did you put these on? Just curious.

i hope you dont but if you do decide to cut, do it in inch increments, not half coils like i TOLD someone before..............

There on a 68 chevelle. If they don't settle to my liking i'm just going to put the old ones on. I won't cut the new ones i think it defeats the purpose of the spring because then you screw up your load and spring rate.

Yep ;) I haven't seen to many featured rides in Chevy High Performance that have "cut springs"

Actually cutting springs is an OK thing to do. It shouldn't change the spring rate as long as they are not progressive rate springs. Small increments and do not use a torch to do this. A cut off wheel should work OK. Just don't get the metal hot.

Where did you get these springs Pagel? Where did you get your research information from?

The springs are moog and i got them from summit. I did at least 4hrs of research on the web. I went through pages of spring info on the chevelle site i called all the parts stores in town too. Almost every time i got a different number for springs. ITs hard to buy a stock spring when stuff on the cars changed so much from 35yrs ago. I finally decided on these springs because its what napa, advance and one other site on the web came up with. Moog puts coupes with wagons and its hard to find the right spring, i was just hoping i would get lucky. I should of just ordered the drop springs to begin with.

I'd drive the car for a while and see how much they settle. Then fine tune the height by cutting coils. This sounds like the best option to me.

If it don't settle to my liking i'm special ordering springs. Coilsprings.com will build the springs how you want them. They come highly recommended. I wish i new about them before. I just don't want to keep having to take the springs out cut some off and putting them back in. Too much screwing around.
