On aluminum intakes/ blower setups, I believe that the blower belts are pretty loose at first until everything heats up. My buddy's truck ( pics below ) has that setup. After the BDS blower gets nice and warm ( runs a steady 210 degrees) the belt is tighter then a ... well you get the picture..

Yep it is.. dynoed at 750+ horsepower on 8 psi. He is running SVT bottom end on the 460, with 13:1 compression Majorly worked Cobrajet heads and a nice bumpy camshaft..
This thing has a FLAT torque curve.. You would not beleive it..AND it spins right up to 7500 RPM like RIGHT NOW.
Idles at 1400 RPM.. VERY choppy.. Its really cool.. Now I woudl love to see that in my Mustang LOL

Isnt that awfully high compression for a blower motor??
Maybe not.

Thats the FIRST thing I asked him. Apparantly its doing just fine now that he switched over to copper head gaskets.
Plus running 8 lbs of boost is not exactly alot of PSI.. the drag guys use 20+ lbs don't they?
Mijal

Yeah............I didnt see the 8psi thing. I should pay more attention.

He probably runs it on methonal or maybe 116 or 118 race gas. Its gotta be expensive as hell to run that thing.

Runs it on 110.. on a 20 gallon fuel cell it literally takes only 30 minutes of romping on it to drain the fuel cell!!

If he is running 110 he must not care to much for that motor. 110 is barely adequate for a 13:1 naturally aspirated engine.

i know it seems ok.. not liek you can here deatonation with open headers!!

Nope, you probably won't hear it. I'll be running 116 in my car next year when I run on horsepower and 118 when I spray it. That is on a 15:1 engine. 13:1 needs more than 110, especially with a power adder.

he wants to build a all engine natural horsepower engine in the 1000 HP catergory next runnign on methonal.

I can help him with that. He will definitely need a set of ported A460 heads to reach those levels. I just happen to be a Trick Flow dealer:D:

He is kind of a prick though.. he will only use these two guys Wayne and Lee who build high dollar Race engines. But I will mention your name and see what comes of it! You need to give me some business cards!!

This is the chart I got from my CAM2 dealer. I have no idea if it is correct or relevant to this discussion.

9 91
9.5 93
10.0 95
10.3 96
10.4 96.5
10.5 97
11.0 98

Isn't 11 to 1 what an s2000 and celica use??? You can only get up to 93 at the pump. Most NA cars run more than an 8.5 to 1.
My moms accord requires 87 and is a 9:1

You've got to remember though that EFI cars can compensate for bad or low octane fuel with feedback from the knock sensor. Sure it'll RUN on cheap gas, but it won't see it's potential.
