Just wanted everyones input on mufflers for my car. Pretty sure I'll buy either Borla's or Flowmasters. I've owned Flowmasters before and had them on my 454 with 3" exhaust and headers. Was OK but don't know much about Borla's. What does everyone else think? Which sounds better? Or has someone had experience with some other muffler. Car will mostly be street driven ( Like DECON's) LOL. Putting them on my 75 Vega with Hooker headers and a 383, if I ever get the engine in. As always I'm still accepting donations until I become as successful as DECON and have his money.

look at Spintech mufflers also. I've read quite a bit about them and they sound damn nice too.
I always perferred Flowmasters. Supertrapps sounds excellent in my opinion but cost to damn much. Go with the flowmasters..proven performance.

I like Flowmasters. You can't be the Borla million mile warranty. Borla mufflers have a deep mean sound to them. I think you will be happy with either one.

Decon, if I had your money I could buy half of Plover and build my own personal dragstrip. Quit complaining and drive it but just remember you have to take the tarp off first to see where your going.:bna :bna :bna :bna :bna

Here we go again!
As far as muffler choice, I have owned several cars with flowmasters on them. When I was younger and liked to draw attention to myself I thought they were cool. Now that I am older and like to drive my car long distances I find the flowmasters very annoying. I feel like I am beat up after a cruise in the car. I had a Borla on my 87 Iroc and liked the sound. It was loud and deep at WOT, yet very quite and tolerable at idle and cruise. Once I get some things in order a Borla kit will find it way on my car. One other muffler I would suggest would be the Dynomax Ultra Flow. Buddy had them on his mustang vert and it was probably the best sounding car I ever heard. Quiet as a kitten at idle(car was relatively stock) but rapped really good when the peddle was to the metal. This is my second choice, but since it is roughly the same price as the borla kit, I will need to find a really good deal to go with it instead of the stainless borla.

I think the Dynomax welded are pretty quiet at idle an sound really deep as you rev it up. Best bet for your money as thats not an issue for you Vega.

Isn't there an old fable about a mouse and an elephant? I think the way it goes is the mouse out smarts the elephant.......

I have 3 1/2" Flowmasters on my car, and the deep vibrating sound gives me a headache after 10 minutes of street driving. I have been told and read that Borla and Straightline are much better mufflers at controlling low resonation and make more HP as well.
Whichever you run, try to run tailpipes..............it makes a big diiference and the car will be more enjoyable to drive in my opinion.

Yeah your probably right Vega waiting at the finish, but I think it would be better if you watched from the starting line.
