View Full Version : Snowmobile races
I heard that GLD bought a snow machine and is gonna snow the quarter mile for snowmobile races. Is this true?? If so are there any set dates for it? I checked on the GLD site and didn't see any info on this.

You'll have to look to The Tuffster for any info on this guys. I haven't been instructed to post anything about this as of yet, however Brian has talked about this happening.
When/if there is concrete (or should I say snowy??) info to post, I'll be sure to do that.

That's funny stuff right there! :D
That would be cool. I will have to borrow my old race sled that I sold a few years ago to pay for my car. This thing is faster than my car in the 1/8 and it is only a 440

so will the track be covered with a foot or 2 of snow??? fluffy or hard pack? or will it be more of an ice track?

It will be Grass (clay base) to start with until the temps drop below freezing.
Once we can make snow we will have an ICE base withpacked snow on top

i see, so studs and a paddle track will work in favor.

 you would be far better off if you could just have ice to race on . I have run speed runs on a lake with a "groomed " packed snow and they usually suck each run can be over 10 mph up or down depending on the track condition . the track goes away pretty fast .
if you run just ice . all you have to do is move the starting line to fresh ice when it gets torn down to the dirt . 1" drag picks will chew through 6" of ice pretty quick :wedgie:

well put, once someone makes a few passes the studs will chew up the hard pack, the starting ling will be crap(loose snow). its a hard call cause there are a lot of ice runs on lakes and stuff. mabee the loose stuff will be a new challenge lol
Well....its november, when are these sled drags???? Mines all ready to go and i'm dieing to ride.

I know it sucks...should be 30 degrees out and snowing !!! I thought they were gonna run these on the grass till its cold enough out. I got a can of WD40 and new slides so i'm up for some grass drags.
