No you do not need reverse rotation, just standard rotation. And I woudl asume you have an 8.8 in that car. Best way to tell is to look at the diff cover. If the cover has flat sidesand top then its an 8.8 if its more oval then its a 7.5. Ford actually had 7.5" rear ends in 1991 and 1992 put into some 5.0 models. I had one in fact, it was a 1991 LX 5.0 with an original 7.5" rear and 3.45 gears

I personally would get a set of Ford motorsport gears, I've never had a problem with them. Also, when you start switching brands, pinion gear depth becomes an issue, unless you like gears that howl as you drive down the road. If interested, I have a set of 4:10's in the garage. I have no use them anymore.

4cfed don't even mess around. Get a set of FMS gears or Richmond gears (Richmond makes the ford gears). If you use these you can install them using the MHD (master housing dimension) method of installation. It will go much smoother and give you a much better chance of a good install. I speak from experience here. If you need some literature on how to install let me know. I can give you a step by step article.

Best way is to set your gears up using a combination of a pinion depth gauge tool and by feel. Brand isn't as important as getting the gears set up correctly. The only gear to really stay away from is Motive gear sets. They are cheap for a reason and work fine on a street driven grandma car, but will not withstand the abuse of drag racing.
Quality bearings are also an often overlooked part of a gear install. Cheap "made in china" bearings will not withstand high loads like a Timken bearing will..

DUDE, you can do anything if you take the time and research the subject on what you want to accomplish. Granted real world variables dont come into play, but it gives you a better understanding of what you are trying to do. For rear ends...just gotta make sure the head of the pinion is in far enough to make contact with the ring gear and make sure the carrier is "centered" on the pinion so it doesnt bind or chew teeth because of a shallow set. If you ask Darrell im sure he has a couple of websites to help you through. As far as the Reverse Rotation, only works in the front axle of a 4x4, a flipped carrier (opperates backwards for junk yard wars), or if you want to go backwards REALLY REALLY REALLY FAST. Like a marsupial.

well what the hell good does it show them for..said for a ford 8.8 rear end on the could do it my self i would rather pay someone to do this for me because i would screw it up and gears are not cheap..and besides i dont want the rear to howl at me going down the road
