The cleaar coat won't come off my crown vic wheels. I tryed the blast cabinet and acid. The acid just cleaned the clear coat very well.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The wheels are aluminum.

I have some stuff called Aircraft remover (or something like that). I used it to take everything off of my rims. It worked pretty good there was alot less work for me.

Ask me for it next time your over.

That is a good idea. Aircraft remover is a very high powered paint stripper. That shit will eat anything. Just don't get it on your skin..........it hurts!!!!!!

They make it in a spray can now that says aluminum safe, I would suggest that be the stuff you use. Also I believe there is a stuff called tal-strip that works very good also and will probably be easier to get your hands on at most auto parts stores. Just make sure it says aluminum safe.

Well....... The aircraft paint remover stuff took most of the clear coat off. But now there is another layer of some kind of silver / gray paint that won't come off with anything..

I just might end up buying some wheels. I need something before winter. The wheels and tires on there now are way to small and are bald.

i used the aircraft stripper in a spray car on my formula wheels and it took the clear right off..took about 3 different coats, i let it sit on there for about 20 minutes and sprayed them off with water and after the 3rd time it took everything off, whatever was left i removed with some emory cloth. Used some mothers aluminum polish and they look better than new.

Permatex gasket remover in a spray can also works really well.

If you think the MOTHERS worked good try WIZARDS an you will throw the MOTHERS away. WIZARDS made my rims look 10 times better than MOTHERS with less time invovled an it leaves no finger prints when you touch it when your done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tryed 4 coats of the aircraft remover stuff. The last one I let sit for over an hour. Nothing.

It did do a good job on the clear though.

When I peel this silver/gray stuff off it almost reminds me of when crome comes off. Kinda weird.

Maybe I should put the craigers off the 65 on the crown vic for this winter. :)

Thats weird, mine was already peeling pretty good, so maybe thats why it came off so easy.
