What is the best one to use? I am hoping to use on that was Original Equipement on a vehicle so I can pick it up at an auto parts store. If anyone has any suggestions and maybe a wiring diagram it would be very helpful. I have a few laying around here, but most are 5 prong and 3 prong and I don't have any idea how those type are wired internally.

What is everyone using to power their fuel pump? I have it wired through the ignition circuit and it screws up my MSD box and my shift light goes nuts. I want to wire it direct to the battery to avoid any noise going to the ignition box, but I need a relay. Right???
you should have a relay. i'm not using one, and haven't for 3 years now with no problem (yet). mine is wired to the fuse box so when i turn the key on the pump comes on.

That's the way I have it now, wired into the fuse box. It causes my MSD box to make a high frequency beeping/ticking noise and my shift light goes on and off all over the place.

You really dont need a relay on the fuel pump. But it wouldnt hurt. YOu can just wire it up on a seperate switch.

As long as the switch is rated for more than the pump draws, I would put a relay in.

I have always wired the pump to a toggle switch or the fuse box. Never had a problem so far.

What relay should I use? I have a HUGE one left over from an old job I had that we used for switching in a coil winding machines logic circuits that were 12V. I'd prefer a more practical automotive type though.

Definately recommend putting a relay on the fuel pump. Cost me $10 in parts from RadioShack.
