Lost the motor in the daytona on saturday in the lanes at GLD. Started knocking and idle was dropping like a stone. Also in doing so I lost my 2nd place hold on points in IHRA. Think it may have dropped me to 3rd of 4th. I am so bummed. I really need to get a sponsor...this is getting too expensive.
how many division races are left kevin? what is the best place you could possibly finish now?

This was the last divisional...I think it will drop me to third or possibly fourth.
"or build a better engine??"
Heres the deal. You want to throw the money this way I will build a BETTER engine. I know it wasnt much and only pushed the car into the 9.6s with steel heads and weighing almost 2900 lbs. thats without the use of any power adders also. But then again your better engine pushes you to 11.2s right? Not bad I ran that in high school. If you feel the need to question the quality of my racing program go ahead I will answer any questions you have. Others may be able to help respond as well. I didnt get to race as much this year as I would like only made it to about 10 different tracks in 5 or 6 states but it was a good year anyways. I fired my best bullets and they hit there mark more than they missed. I can say I only went out 1st round 2 times all year in the Daytona so that was a good outing. I made enough money to cover my entry fees for the most part but the gas and the travelling killed me.

I think you took my reply wrong, my engine isnt better than anyones else, it was pure stock. Im just saying the more money you put into it the stronger it might be in the long run. it might have lasted a few more runs.

I guess you missed the part where he said he needs a sponsor because it is getting to expensive for him to do it alone. That damn speed bug sure makes life hell. You think you finally have something the way you want when all of a sudden something breaks or it bites you again.
Bummer to hear Kevin. Are you gonna have another engine ready for this year or not?

I know where theres a good engine for sale. $4000 I'd be willing to put in $200 if 19 other guys want to step up to the plate. Kevins a good dedicated racer. That has put in more money this year than he probably could really afford. Hell get the car going and give us back 50% of the winnings for this year and next. Or maybe we all would like to parlay the money into higher stake races. $200 is a couple nights at the bar, with nothing but a hangover to show for it.

It's one thing to build a car and occasionally race it. It's a whole other thing to competitvely campaign it. It's rare individuals that can dedicate themselves to this type of punishment and stay focused. Kevin raced for me when he was 18. I could'nt get the time off work to be at the track for all events. Kevin made the commitment to come from wisconsin to Illinois back in 1994 to handle the job of racing my car. We finished 6th overall in points that year and went to Indy. He was always where he needed to be and did what he agreed to. I found out later from his dad that racing was'nt a new thing to the Garceau family. Kevin and Kurt had been racing since children. They even ran there soap box car in Austalia. What I'm trying to say is. I enjoy racing and enjoy coming to this site and checking on how everyone else is doing with their projects. There is'nt a bunch of bashing each other and everyone seems supportive of each other. I know it's made me want to win or at least do better, just to add to the excitement of the site. I'm not dedicated enough to race like I use to but racing still gets me revved up. Whether it's me or someone I know. I believe others that feel as I do might want to get behind a dedicated driver and have a vested interest without all the hard work involved. I propose WSD help sponser a WSD race car that we can all enjoy if only vicariously. If enough want to do it it should'nt cost but $200 to $500 a year to help with the project individually.

I agree with you Sparrow totally, someone totally devoted to racing an wanting to be on top is above an be on. I have talked with Kevin in the spring an sold some parts to him. We will be talking again if he is still focused on his racing for 2004. You dont find many people like Kevin that do what they do to be at the top.
Good Luck KG on the rest of the year an PM me.
Darrell, we should get together on this. just getting entry fees paid is help in itself, not to mention gas for the tow rig. when you don't have to worry about stuff like that it makes competition a little easier to handle. the problem is there are only a few on this site i think that will understand any of this, the rest will probably just laugh.
i'm not quite sure what i will be doing next year. this year was HARD on me mentally. the days off to race were pretty much handled except for 7 of them this year. you all know it wasn't a problem to call in sick with the job i have, there are some consequences but they are small and i have been dealing with that for 8 years now(no big deal). then there was the thing with finding a baby sitter that was willing to come over at 10pm when my wife goes to work if and when i went a few rounds. in a couple of cases i went to race and had to be home by 10 even if i was going rounds. i had a great team driver this year. he got me a total of 7 points over 2 races which was awesome and made things a lot easier. he also helps a lot at the track with dialing the car, and was always there when things needed to be done to the car.

I am definitely game for helping Kevin out. Like Sparrow said, $200 isn't shit. $200 is a lite weekend out on the town. I just doubt that we could get more than a handful of people on this site to donate anything to Kevin. Look at how few people donated to this site. And that is just pocket change needed from everyone to keep it going, not $200. I will call you sometime to day and we can figure something out to help Kevin out.

i hear ya there. darrell didn't even get half that in donations when everyone said they would help out. i think it was only 2 people to be honest. myself, and another guy that doesn't even post very often. he works on this site day in and day out and pours his own money into it so people can talk about cars and hang out, and rip on each other in some cases which has been happening way too often lately.

Kevin is a stand up guy. From what I hear, he remembers everyone that ever assists him in any way. He is always willing to lend a hand when needed.

Wow guys... I really didnt put this up here to look for help. But all help is appreciated. I really dont know what direction I am going to go this fall and for next year. I really need to sit down and figure things out. Something like this would seriusly need to be discussed with your other halves before you go giving me ANY money. Last thing I would want would be hard feelings down the road. I am going to post a couple pics as some dont know me or the car or the dedication and the professionalism I try to display.
This pic is from the runner up position I got at Marion South Dakota

This is from my win at Cordova in the 10.90 shoot out. The dial in is 10.90 and its pretty much a bracket race on a pro tree but you dial 10.90.... this is the racing I have been doing. In the semis I ran 10.902 and in the finals I ran 10.902 for the "W"
