OK I just got my Autometer tach installed and Footbraked the conveter and I only got it to 2200 rpm before the tires broke loose. This bothers me because its a 10" TCI super street fighter that is supposed to stall around 3500 rpm.I understand that the true stall will flash and can't be seen by footbraking it,but I thought I should have gotten it over 3000.My reasoning is that I had a different 10" superstreetfighter in my old camaro with a 350 instead of a 383 and I could footbrake it to about 3200 rpm by the stock tach. Both cars were about the same weight. So is my converter junk or what?

your brakes, torque from the motor, and gear ratio will all affect your stall by foot braking. the only true way to tell is with a transbrake or watch it flash. i doubt if there is anything wrong with the converter.

You will not get close to full stall footbraking. The only way you will get full stall is with a transbrake. Why you got big stall in another car has to do with many variables. Mainly vehicle weight, trans slippage (more rpm but not more stall), smaller carburetor venturis, different camshaft, malfunctioning tach, etc.

So if this is true, do you think it would be possible for me to run a 3600 stall B&M nitrous holeshot on the street in a t 350 behind a 408 BBC, I would just be footbraking it for now.

Why not? I ran a 4500 stall on the street in my car.

My TCI super street fighter stalled to 4000 on the transbrake behind a 406 chevy.
