Does any one know what the compression on the LT1 motors is. I have a set of mahals out of a LT1 and would like to know what the compression would be with a set of vortec heads with the 64cc chamber, these are the flat tops. Also what are the cam specks on a 89 firebird with the hot 350 the cam is a roller. I know some of you will have this information at your finger tips. What size chamber are the LT1 heads.

I'm not 100% sure but I thought the lt1 heads were 58cc's The aluminum ones ..... not the old 1970 iron ones they were supposed to be 62cc :dum:

what are you doing,- putting the lt1 pistons in a old school block or
thinking of putting Vortecs on the lt1 block- because that won't work

What do you think will not work. 1 LT1 pistons in a 99 and earler block or 2 Vortec heads on a LT1 block. What I am puting together is the 99 and earler block with vortec heads and the LT1 pistons. This one is a no bainer There are other combination out there that are a lot more fun. Light weight assembleys on the cheap for the hobby stock guys $300 clamer rules and go fast cheap heads??????? Call for the answers if you want Ralph 920-901-9777

you guys are both talking about different lt1 engines, early 70 lt1 and gen 2 small block 92-97 lt1's

some of the internals can be swapped, but the heads are not, the 92-97 lt1 head have no coolant crossover on the intake side and are reverse cooled

Sorry about the confussion on the LT1s. I didn't thing anyone was around when the early ones were out. I was talking about the later ones. I did find out about the compression on the motors. I am still looking to find out on the cam specks on the 89 roller motor. I picked up everything today cam and block, now I need to finish the roller motor before friday. Thanks for the help.

"What do you think will not work. 1 LT1 pistons in a 99 and earler block or 2 Vortec heads on a LT1 block"

well if you are talkin about vortec heads on a 92-97 lt1, it wont work, totally different head design, no coolant passages and reverse cooling on the lt1

Your right on the heads. But the LT1 pistons in the 98 on down vortec blocks will work. There around 50 grams lighter in the pistons then the 95 on down pistons. There the same weight as the 96-98 vortec pistons. The price of rings are the killer. Those special mahal pistons take a different ring package. Thanks for the help, now whats the number on the 89 roller cam??????

Now I know, its not very big. Its going in a jeep for street use. I don't want to put to much cam in it for him. Mabe I will put in the vortec cam, that will work out better for him. Thanks
