For christmas my bro gave me a never used 3600 stall B&M nitrous holeshot tq conv. they had lyin around the shop. I think it will be too high for street driving, and I seriously doubt that I would be able to even get traction with that. The engine will be a 402 BB bored + .030, with a fairly healthy cam. I was thinkin maybe a 2500-2800 stall would work better, what do you think?

You don't even know for sure what the stall will be. Advertised stall speed is rarely accurate due to many variables. Even if it is truley 3600, you will be fine as long as you have a good trans cooler. Mine is a 4500 stall and it runs 170 or so down the highway, Red has a 4xxx stall and there are several other guys on here with loose converters. Don't fear the stall! Put a transbrake in that baby and rock & roll!

i have a real low mile 2500 i will give you plus some money for yours, 2500 is not even close to being right for my big block, way too tight!!!!!

I've also found that converters never stall at what they are advertised, unless you spend good $$ on one and actually call the company and give them vehicle info. You will be fine with an advertised 3600 stall, and it will feel so good you will probably want more!

Also, the only way you will see full stall is with a transbrake. Mine did 4500 on the transbrake and about 2000-2200 foot braking.

hmmm, I might keep it then, cause i had planned on running a trans cooler anway, and i do have a trans temp gauge already. But I don't know, cause I do still need $for some more important part, ie... radiator. I might have to think about this one, cause I know it would be cool as hell to keep it, and how often do you get a $500 tq conv. for free

best thing to do is dyno the engine to know what your torque and horsepower are at then talk to a good converter company to chose a proper stall
