Here is some info on this years' Series. Some things may change when all the little details are worked out, but this is what was put on New Hope Dragway website. Up to this point there has not been much info released yet. IHRA has cut out Div. 5 for the Pro- Am Series but there is still a Div 5 for brackets with the finals at Cordova again. Since Bill's not in charge anymore there seems to be a cut back in the "personal touch" that there was with Bill Bader in charge. :nervous: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summitt Super Series

I have just returned from the IHRA Div. 3 winter meeting. There are some great changes in the SSS for 2005. GIve me some feed back on how you feel about this program. (Summit Super Series)
It only cost 10 additional dollars to join the SSS when you join the IHRA.
In return you get an additional $1000 if you win first in points in Box and/or NO Box, $500 if you finish 2nd, and $300 if you finish 3rd.
The top 6 in the country in both Box & No box will compete in Rockingham, NC, for the World Championship. Two lucky racers will be drawn at random and considered Wild Cards to compete along with the top 6 at Rockingham. So there will be an 8 car run off in both Box & No Box. Summit will give each of the 16 races who compete for the Championship, $2000 for traveling expences. You DO NOT have to make any additional purchases from Summit to get any of the mentioned money. The First place prize for winning the World Championship is true for Box and No Box:
1. $25,000.00 in cash
2. $25,000.00 in prizes - new car/vacation
The top six in points are determined by a "PERFORMANCE RATING". This is your % of wins at New Hope based on 30 runs. The 2004 box winner was 38/2, the No Box winner was 37/3. The number of rounds has been changed from 40 in 2004, to 30 in 2005.
The 2 wild cards that will be drawn must only have a P.R. of .501 or better. That means if you are 16/14, you have a chance of being a wild card racer for the World Championship.
You must join the IHRA and the SSS prior to the start of the 2005 season. You can not join mid way through the season after you find out you are doing really well in points and expect to receive any of the SSS benefits.
This is a great improvement to an already great program for YOU, the racers. I would like to see your comments on this revised program. Please feel free to make comments in the message board or email me, so I can forward them to the IHRA.

Can I compete at two different tracks? GLD also runs the SSS. Any info on the dates? That's usually a sticking point for me due to work.

Thanks!

Dirty Vegas, Nope, you're only able to enter once at one track. Got to choose. They do it this way because some people live in an area that has alot of tracks and there would be guys who would enter at 4 or 5 tracks. It's to give everyone across the country the same equal chance.
