Im a GM guy, so I need a little info on a mustang, its like an 1989ish, how do I know if it has an 8.8 or 7.5 " rearend, are the covers different? It has some kind of factory traction bars if that means anything. What do I want to look for?
All 86 and up 5 liters had 8.8 rear ends.

IF it has a factory type slapper bar on it it is more than likely a 7.5 out of an early car. Make sure the car is a factory v8 and not a swap. If it is a swap my money is on a early 7.5. I hammered on mine pretty good and it didn't break. They will last a while as long as you don't put slicks on it.
