Reason I ask is because there is a new NHRA coming through that states that a t-top equipped car is now considered an open canopy car and has to abide by the same rules as a convertible. Meaning, that if you have t-tops, you have to have a rollbar if you are running 13.99 or faster. Sucks for the stock LS1 guys who run that everyday in a full weight car :( Here comes a resurgance in street racing. Just heard this from a chassis guy friend from down in Houston.

Whew....

just got off the phone with John Miller Tech Service Rep for NHRA National Headquarters , in Glendora Cal. and he stated
" At this time there is no change to the glass/t-top rules, they will be considered a coupe and require a roll bar at 11.99, same as in the past"
He did tell me this was discussed at this past Tuesday rules meeting but no changes will be made now or in the near future.
So everyone relax, it's business as usual.

And a reply from somebody else:
You are correct. THIS IS NOT A NEW NHRA RULE!!! Ths was enforced at a track in Houston recently though (HRP) HRP was enforcing that t top cars running faster than 14.0 must have a roll cage. This was not a NHRA rule, they were enforcing this FOR THEIR OWN INSURANCE REASONS. Please do not get paranoid, unless you race at HRP you have nothing to worry about...

WIR is IHRA and runs there rules system the same way. What ever they think is right is the way it goes. I never had trouble with my t-top car though.
