I fried my clutch at the July 2nd RSD :bash: I even got beat by a neon srt 4. My girlfriend was watching and told me Tuff said I should of been embarassed and he was definately right. Then with my good luck I took two gears out of the transmission of my truck the next day. What kind of clutch would be good for a 2000 Z28? Centerforce or are there any other better ones? Thanks for any help.

I have had good luck with Hays and McLeod on my big ass 4-speed big block mopar. Depending on how much power you are putting down now might be the time to upgrade the flywheel and install a clutch can.
Do not buy a ZOOM clutch, ever.
Good luck,

I was going to get a new flywheel just to be on the safe side. Anyone ever hear anything about SPEC clutches, because i think that is what i'm going to buy? Thanks for any replys.

I hear the SLP parts are pretty stout.

Yes, but seriously overpriced. I would like to keep it under $700 since my Ranger tranny took shit also. :hung:
I've had great results with the Hay's Street Strip combo. been in the car four summer's now. no problems yet. 1.65 60' with slicks and pulls the front wheels off the ground in a 84 camaro

I have heard SPEC clutches are good but I have never used one. I have had good luck with RAM Powergrip clutches. Centerforce makes a good dual friction disc but beware of the weights flying off of the pressure plates. I've seen it happen numerous times.

I've used Spec and Hays both, and while both were grat clutches, I liked the Spec a little more.

I guess it all depends on what you plan on doing. If you have a big heavy car you might want something that slips a little bit. I ran one of those "race only" finger style clutch discs and the damned thing hit so hard I ended up breaking all kinds of shit( including the welds/lead in the a-pillar cowl area).
Yes, I have had my giant, cast iron 4-speed in and out of my car 40 times.

Nice clean picture of my car Darrell. Now if I could just figure out how to use it for my avatar. I should be able to make it for the august RSD. Sounds like ther e will be alot of people there. Is the person taking those pictures going to be there again? If so I will have to try and find him I heard he will make larger prints for people.

I just want something streetable, but tough enough to hold up to my abusive driving. I don't think my car is all that heavy, it's got to be under 3,400 lbs. The only time I take it to the track is for RSD's, so I need one to hold up to that. I think my new 295's on the rear is what did the stock clutch in.

Something is messed up with the avatar portion of the database. I will take care of it as soon as I can. Boomer is the photography guy (www.oresphotos.com) and he will be at the August RSD at WIR. He will print pictures out the same night for you. All of the pricing and sizes are available on his website.

its going to be soon when i'm going to needa clutch too- i called SPEC and they suggested before any clutch replacement, you should update to the clutch hydrualics off a 2002 z28/ss. also where did you get yours and how $$$$?

Definately upgrade the hydraulics. I got the clutch from LM performance and the slave cyclinder from Thunder Racing. Both are sponsors on LS1tech.com and can be found of the right side of their homepage. The clutch was $560 w/flywheel and I think the slave cylinder was around $120. An adjustable master is a good idea so you can fine tune how the clutch grabs, but that's another $250. Hope that this helps.

Spent all day in the shop Saturday but, I got the clutch in. The tranny in that car is horrible to get out and back in. The passenger side cat hits the frame when you wnat the motor to angle down so it was tricky to get it all lined up. Clutch feels strong, but I have to have a 400 mile break in period before I am supposed to really grab some gears. I am going to go drive around all day and when that the trip odometer says 400.....BIG SMOKY BURNOUT. :spinem:
