It's time to buy new track only tires. I'm looking at goodyear 28x9 for $161 a tire or the hoosier dragradial 275/60/15 for about $190 per tire. Is there any reason to pay more for the radials? I know they are more stable at speed, but my car isnt that fast. But of course its all about et's so if one is truely faster than the other, i would buy those. anyone with any experience that can shed some light for me?

I can feel a big difference at speed between the 2, even at only 125mph. My 60' times are within hundredths.

If they are track only tires, and you have no class rules saying DOT only, why wouldn't a guy go with a true drag slick? They will be way more forgiving traction wise on a marginal track. If your going to run street class, then radials. Can't beat a true slick for hook IMHO.

Agreed.

I won't be running street. Mainly RSD's, but I might give Hotrod class a try

You sure you can't fit a 10.5 on there?

95 degrees all day on a sat. you go 3 or 4 rounds, hang out till the end. Dammit, I have to change tires for the ride home.....The cop that gets you probably won't care about your excuse, he just see's you adding to his pension, or insurance, or the new cars his squad is supposed to get.

Slicks are good to go in Hot Rod. I agree with 70Maverick.

I only havean 8" rim. from what I've seen in jegs and summit, 9" is what most companies recomend.

I run a 315/60 BFG drag radial on a 8" rim. No problems so far, well, beside that I'm slow.

Auto,stick,trans brake, ?????????
If your driving to the track and home D/R = SAFER RAIN DRIVING
If your willing to change at the track then put a stiff side wall slick on if your looking for et and a stable ride over the wish wash ride.

I drive to the track, but the DR's wear out to fast when driven on a daily basis. I was thinking of driving on regular radials and swapping to slicks at the track. I have a th350, no trans brake. I drive like a granny on the street, so I don't need anything special when I'm not at the track.

The neighborhood will never be the same after this summer.

I'm just sayin...drive through small villages-darboy, kaukauna, etc. with slicks, and you're beggin' for a vehicle defect ticket-or stack of tickets. Changing tires to go home sucks! Been there, done that, done doing it.

Get yourself a cordless impact and a cheap harbor freight alum floor jack, and swap out your tires in 3mins. No big deal.
If you are going to change tires at the track. I would go with slicks.

I ran them all and I liked the M/T ET Streets. DOT approved and hook awsome at the track like a slick.
I run stiff wall slicks now and drive them on the street....but then you take the chance off getting a fine and if it rains you mights as well park it.
