GM PART NUMBERS

Can anyone tell me how, or point me in the right direction on how to de-code GM part numbers? I have a pile of NOS chrome that I want to sell, but I don't know what it's for. How about some help fellas?

If its not too old.. maybe you could go to gmpartsdirect.com and type in the part numbers in their search and see if anything comes up?

Well I guess my stuff is too old, because that site was of no help to me. But thanks anyways Greg, I didn't know about that site before. Some good stuff there.
