You can take my name off the list Darrell - that accident we had in Appleton this winter (stupid kids in an eclipse) is causing ridiculous problems for me...

There was an accident here this winter where some kid in and eclipse wrecked it and I think the 2 boys in the car died and the 2 girls were in critical condition for a while... It turns out the kid had a nitrous kit on his car - big deal right? Well, the insurance *experts* concluded that the bottle was open 1/4 turn and that nitrous was the only way they could have reached the speeds that they did. I tried to tell the guy I was talking to that the car would run worse with the bottle only open a little bit (run super rich) and that nitrous couldn't have been a factor.
From what I can gather things will be rough for cruisers in this area this year...I have had insurance problems over this already...
i take it that you filled his bottle?

No I had nothing to do with it - never even heard of the kid. Why?
was just wondering if that was why you had insurance problems from it.

The insurance companies should sue gas stations too.. if that car didn't have gas in it, it never would have moved to cause the accident.

You mean for people cruising The Ave and stuff like that? Why is that?

Why do I think cruisers (the avej or wherever around appleton) will have problems - I had my business decals on my truck and got sick of cops stopping behind me at the light - checking out my decals, pulling up and looking at me. *IMHO* anything that they even think might have nitrous on it will get harassed this year.
Jim - insurance agents must have some secret network to let eachother know what is going on - you get one uninformed idiot that pollutes the minds of all the other uninformed idiots and nitrous becomes the worst thing they've ever heard of. I went in for my renewal and the FIRST question he asked about my car was "It doesn't have nitrous on it does it?" I was speachless that he would even ask that. He knew I had a nitrous business, and could plainly see the decals on my truck from his office. He immediatly brought up that accident - and it was all down hill from there.

That's some major BS. Our insurance agent tried that on my Talon(saw the car at cruise night and saw my bottle). I told him if they wanted to throw such a fit, I would find a different company. The system only works when it's armed and the bottle is full and the valve is opened, and I've never even had Nitrous in the bottle! The guy I got the car from bought the system, and never installed it. I put it in, but never had a chance to get it filled or use it, and the car haad some tuning issues to resolve first.

Hey (just joined the site)
Yea, i heard about that nitrous accident in the winter... The kids had friends that i know here in Green Bay. I also know some other ppl that have been getting "legal headaches" for issues surrounding nitrous. Therefor, when i pulled my car out of storage just this last spring, i took the tank out. And now it just sitz in my place (empty), and strangely enuff, itz a good conversation piece.

You can rent the mother bottles from most gas and carbonic places.
If you look under Welding Equipment and Supplies in the yellow pages they normally list places that sell industrial and medical gasses, welding supplies, ect. Thats your best bet.

O.K so I went to the local welding gas supplier in my town (Airgas, have been going there for years) and asked about buying/ leasing a 100lb industrial use nitrous cyclinder for a fill station, right away they got all defensive and said they wont sell it unless you have a business and they want to see that you have a legitament use for it and personaly inspect the location were it will be located(??). I told them I dont have a business but I will use it for filling 10lb bottles for my drag car and they can come to my garage and look at what I'm doing with it, they said "No", I then asked them for all the paper work for what it takes to buy it from them through my work so I could have my boss fill it out, the lady printed of some papers and handed them to me and a second later she snatched them from my hands to staple them together and took them to another room, I heard some muffled talking and a minute later she came out and said "we still can't sell it to you or your boss with out a legitiment reason for you to have it"and never gave the papers back. At this point I explaned to her that "NOS" the seller of the nitrous system on my car, sells a fill station for private use for guys that fill there own smaller 10lb bottles and use it on cars, Its the nitrous with the 2% sulfer for industrial use, the lady replied" we can not sell you any nitrous in any form, you have to go to the local speed shops (mentioned in this tread)and have your tanks filled by them". The conversation ended there as I walked out before I lost my temper,:mad this is just a brief summery of everything that was said, they also will not exchange or refill any previously owned bottles 50, 70 or 100lbs. WTF!! So I'm pretty sure theres members on here that have there own private fill stations, just wondering were they get there main tanks filled, or maybe someone knows a loop hole? Has any one dealt with this situation? Or do you think this bitsh just has a hard on because I told her it was for my car? I 'm having a hard time justifing the 6 or 7 bucks a pound from the speed shop when I could get it for maybe less then 3, The last time out at the track I emtyed 3 10lb bottles like nothing, and that was just 1/8 mile, just trying to make my hobby more affordable till next winter.

I sold my fill station to one of my friends and he is suppose to be bringing it to RSD. I was originally getting my bottles from Praxair in Green Bay until they started raping me, then I leased 2 bottles from Airgas for 5 years with no questions asked. It's been at least 4 years since I had a bottle filled but back then it was $180 for 66 pounds. I would have to think a mother bottle now costs over $200. I used to go through 60 pounds a night thus the reason for going with turbo's.
