I need a set of ring and pinion gears for a 1977 Chevy/GMC 1/2Ton truck, I think it is 12-bolt truck rear8.875". The problem is that the ration is 2.76:1, does anyone know how common/uncommon this ratio is? Anyone know whhere I could find a gear set?
This is for my dad's truck that he uses to plow with, funny thing (well not so funny) he think's he's been running it for the last 5+ years without any lube at all, took the cover off and it was bone dry. He had siliconed the cover and possibly forgot to fill it, would it be possible to leak to be completely dry?

Any help would be appreciated.

No, checked on line, I didn't call though. Also checked Richmond Gear online and they have no 2:76 ratio.

By chance you can't get them new from GM? I would give Broadway Chevrolet in GB a call. They are pretty helpful over there.
