Hello all,
New guy here, and also fairly new to Wisconsin. Lived here 3 1/2 years now, formerly from New Mexico. (wife got homesick) Also pretty new to cars, etc. My last project was a 1972 Datsun 240Z car. I built a pretty mild 355: RPM alum heads, comp 280, RPM intake, Demon carb, and a Performer nitrous plate... you get the idea. Also had an early 700R4 with corvette servos, Kevlar, anti-balloon 2400 etc. The car was all prepped and ready for the motor. We ended up moving here before I got the engine into the car. I left my project in the hands of a friend of mine (at his "speed" shop) during our move, until I could either return for the car or decided to sell it. I knew the guy for 5 years, and considered him a friend.
I returned to NM approximately 4 months after moving. The guy was gone. His shop was gone. My car was gone. My engine, trans, rear-end, extra heads, guages .......... all gone.
I never even got to hear the car run.
Insurance wouldn't cover my loss, because everything stored there was on consignment to be sold. (I figured if I got the right price, what the heck, I wouldn't have to move it.) Therefore the shop owner's insurance was supposed to cover it. Except for the fact that he's now gone.
So I took a bit of a hiatus, but am starting to get the itch again. Starting from scratch stinks! Please be patient, as I'm sure I will have some stupid questions from time to time.
Thanks!
