"This is the official IHRA rule change for 2004, it has nothing to do with the "Hot Rod" class at WIR which is just a name for one of the ET bracket classes run there, but I have heard from a couple of people that WIR is using this rule to ban Nitrous from their Hot Rod class.
Anyone have factual information to the contrary?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOT ROD

The use of Nitrous Oxide will be prohibited in 2004
All entries must be full bodied with roof and functional doors. Street roadsters will be prohibited in 2004.
All entries that run 135 mph or faster, must meet the minimum safety and protective clothing requirements for Super Rod.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I haven't heard anything about nitrous at WIR yet. You are right about the classes, they are totally different.

I don't think that will be an issue. Who the hell would run nitrous in hot rod anyway? Or bracket racing? Makes it a bit harder to be consistent.

There was a sig I read somewhere that addressed that darrell -

I am a heads up bracket racer. Who cares if I go rounds - I just want to be able to make more passes!

They got some funny reading though:

Yeah....but if you've got your shit together it can be very consistant. I've run back to back passes within a hundredth shooting 400+. On smaller jets i can get it to run within a few hundredths almost every time...traction permitting. :D:

However, i'd never run it all the time if i was bracket racing seriously. It's just another variable to deal with....

nitrous in bracket racing is the best thing since sliced bread... IHRA referring to Hot Rod is their 10.90 heads up class which I run.

Back to the nitrous....every professional bracekt racer in the country has nitrous on their car, it is used on a button, makes up for tire spin or changes real easy. Their are several ways to use it, I wont tell ya, just line up in the other lane bracket racing and you may see it in person...

Honestly, it is very very very effective, if used correctly. Anyone got a system for sale? Darell I emailed you about one in stock.
