A friend had an engine rebuilt and it developed a knock within 200 miles so we pulled it. When pulling the #2 plug wire the sound went away. The bearings all looked good except the #2 rod bearing was a little worn. He replaced the bearings and checked everything out, but after buttoning everything up the engine still has the very light hollow sounding knock. What could it be???
Anything else you guys need to know?

Yes it's a chevy, but that shouldn't make any difference.

Did he just inspect the bearings or did he check clearances while he was in there? What about piston to wall clearance? What about main bearing clearance? Do you know any other specifics on the engine?

That sounds kinda sarcastic. I'll just go get it saturday..i have to go to appleton anyways, so i'll just drive the extra distance to pick it up.

I think I might have figured it out. I was laying in bed and thinking when I remembered I had a cracked piston in a 305 I had back when I was about 17. You guys think that could be it?
